Ginger Baker – Age 79
In August 2019, English drummer Ginger Baker will celebrate his 80th birthday which is a milestone we all don’t take lightly these days. Barker is credited for founding the Brit rock band Cream alongside bandmates Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce. Barker eventually pursued a solo career and subsequently released several albums, including the one titled Why? Barker is also credited for incorporating the use of drums in jazz and heavy metal music. His style combines jazz and African rhythms, creating a truly unique sound. Barker divulged in 2016 that he suffers from heart disease stemming from the decades he’s spent smoking; he had a surgery that same year.
