Hugh Downs is an American TV host, broadcaster, and news anchor currently retired. He was probably most famous for co-hosting the Today program on NBC News, from 1962 until 1971. Hugh also hosted Concentration, anchored 20/20, and was an announcer on the Tonight Starring Jack Paar. As part of his legacy, Hugh still holds the world record for most hours on network commercial TV with 15,188 hours. He is also a published composer and has had cameos on TV shows in recent decades. Hugh’s most recent appearance was in a documentary TV series Biography, in 2003.
