Joan Plowright is an English stage and film actress whose career began in 1948. She retired in 2014, after nearly seven decades in entertainment, numerous accolades, and honors. She was nominated for an Oscar for her performance on Enchanted April, while Joan is among four actresses with two Golden Globes awarded in one year’s time. Joan has a theater named after her in Scunthorpe, while she also became Baroness Olivier after her husband, Sir Laurence Olivier, died in 2004. Among her notable honors in her portfolio was the Women in Film Crystal Award that she received in 1994, while her latest appearance was in a documentary Nothing Like a Dame, in 2018.
