Harry Belafonte – Age 92

We can all thank Harry Belafonte for introducing the world to the Caribbean classical style of music. We became acquainted with his music in 1956 following the release of his first album Calypso which gave us his most famous hit The Banana Boat Song. Belafonte’s music is a fusion of several musical genres, including folk, gospel, show tunes, and blues. He’s also an actor and some of his film credits include Carmen Jones and Island in the Sun. In 2014, the Berklee College of music awarded the 92-year-old musician an honorary doctorate degree.
